 Renaming "Cheat Day"

For those of you on a strict diet or those that are debating on whether they should or should not get on a strict diet, there is a common day in most called "Cheat Day".

Most diets are considered rough and torture but many of us look forward to that day of the week that we can "cheat" on our diets. Some "cheaters" eat burgers, fries, pizza and all the greasy, unhealthy fast food that there is. 

This title "Cheat Day" may need to be renamed for the simple fact that your not cheating on your diet, you are taking a break or rest day from it. Just like the rest day that you use when you workout, the same applies to your diet.

Diets can be tough and hard on the body at times so this "Rest Day" for your diet is great because you give yourself that break and also in a sense, reward yourself for your hard work. This also helps going into the next days leading up to your next "Rest Day" feeling replenished and ready to hit it hard!

Science backs this up. Last year, researchers put study participants on a diet that was limited to only 10,500 calories per week. (That’s compared to the average American man’s weekly intake of 17,969 calories, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.)

But half of the dieters were allowed to eat anything they wanted on Sundays.

After two weeks, the two groups had both reduced their average body mass indexes. While there was no significant difference in the amount of weight the two groups had lost, those who had taken Sundays off were happier and more motivated to continue working toward their weight-loss goals.

So instead of calling your day to eat anything you want a "Cheat Day", take is easy and consider it a "Rest Day" and enjoy it!
